About Kaos Kennel

Established in 1995 by Mandy and Paul Meyer. Kaos is a family owned and operated complete canine care establishment. Chris Meyer became manager in 2016 and owner in 2021.

Kaos is attached directly to the Meyer home making this modern facility unique and sought after. Our lodging, indoor and outdoor play zones, and 40 acre property with ponds, were personally designed with exceptional dog care in mind. Adventure awaits your dog at our canine resort!

Kaos by Chris

009When Chris came into the world he was welcomed into a home of six dogs and two cats. He began feeding the dogs at the age of six months, although be it from his high chair. He regularly attended obedience training classes taught by Mandy Meyer in his walker attached to a retractable leash. Chris competed in his first family hunt test at the age of two years old. Today, he is teaching those classes, training his own dogs, and competing at the master level in hunt tests.

Setting his career in motion Chris graduated from Bemidji State University with a degree in Business Management and Financial Management. Straight from college he became the fishing department manager for a major retail outdoor company. A job move to the Mayo clinic in a laboratory left him realizing that he missed the dog life. Taking a side hussel at a major southern Minnesota dog training facility, he assisted other professional dog trainers and became the lead pet care attendent.

In 2016 Kaos received Chris' application. Meetings were had, position and terms of employent were discussed and his Mom & Dad said, Yes!

Kaos Kennels and Community Involvement

Since 1985 Mandy and her family have volunteered at schools, day cares, and pre-schools teaching and giving demonstrations about dog care and training. They have also volunteered at the Minnesota State Fair Pet Center. The Meyer's and staff seek out many opportunities to share their knowledge and love of animals. Mandy started the Pet Therapy Program at St. Gertrude's Health Care Center in Shakopee, MN in 1999.

Kaos Kennels philosophy is it's important for kids to be active with their family pet. Mandy started and carried on a 10 year tradition for the Lake Country Retriever Club called Family Fun Day. She has hosted Family Fun Dog shows for three different communities since 1987. Ribbon winning titles for these community events include Best Tail Wagger, Longest Legs, Most Spots, and the coveted title of Dog Most Likely to Cause a Riot!

"Kaos", the dog that Inspired our kennel name

kdogbio2Kaos (Chaos) was the second dog that we owned, the first dog that gave us direction. She competed five years on the obedience circuit, five years in the hunt test world, and delivered one litter of puppies. We had the privilege of escorting her to both the Obedience Nationals in Washington and the Labrador Nationals in Ohio. At 13 years of age she left us with a Master Hunt test title, Utility Dog title, grand puppies, and finally great-great-grand puppies. We are pleased that she willed us to pursue our dreams of "going to the dogs". With Kaos' inspiration we have realized our dream of owning our current property along with our boarding and training facility.

Did I say she gave us direction? No, she gave us Kaos.
